This form needs to be completed while you are standing by the compass.
If multiple vessel adjustments are involved in this engagement a separate form needs to be completed for each vessel.

If possible, this form is best completed on a mobile device as we will be requesting photos of the compass and, in some cases, photos of relevant documentation.
If you are currently viewing this form on a desktop or laptop computer and need to switch to a mobile device please go to felanmarine.com.au/compass-questions on your mobile device.
If you are completing this form on a mobile device you will be able to select the following photo fields and your device will open your camera and return you to the form after the photo is taken.
You may delete and retake photos as often as you like before submitting the form.
Please take photos of the compass binnacle and the view around it, ideally showing any obstructions.
Up to 10 pics in total are permitted with a maximum file size of 10 MB each.
Clicking in this field on your mobile phone will open your camera. You do not have to leave the form to take photos.
If the compass has inspection covers please remove them and take photos of the position of the magnets inside. This will usually only apply to larger vessels. On these vessels sometimes you will also need to remove the aluminium corrector magnet retainers in order to see the magnets.
IMPORTANT
The adjustment cannot proceed if the Compass Card 'sticks'. Please do this quick test.
Note the EXACT compass heading. Hold a weak magnet to the Compass Card. The card should swing in response. When the magnet is removed the card should swing freely and smoothly on the pivot. It should oscillate several times before settling back EXACTLY on its original heading.
If the compass card 'sticks' the adjustment cannot proceed until the compass is repaired or replaced.
If the card 'sticks' please answer Yes and continue with the form submission so that we can help to resolve this issue.
We have uploaded a YouTube video on how to check for a 'sticky' compass card.
Please select the most likely date in the first instance and then select a range of other possible dates via the Date Range Start and Date Range End fields.
